A meeting on datafication of today's children

Paolo Bory, researcher in Sociology of Culture and Communication at the Department of Design, meets Veronica Barassi, author of the book “I figli dell’algoritmo. Sorvegliati, tracciati, profilati dalla nascita” published by Luiss University Press.

The meeting will focus on the topical subject of the 'Datafication' of today's children, whose data are aggregated, exchanged, sold and transformed into digital profiles, which are increasingly used to determine fundamental aspects of their lives.

Veronica Barassi is an Italian anthropologist and university professor. She teaches Communication Sciences at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Università di San Gallo. She focuses on the social and political implications of data technologies and artificial intelligence. She is the author of several articles and books, and her TED talk "What Tech Companies Know About Your Children" has garnered over 1.9 million views.
