DeFINE is a collaborative project co-funded by the European Commission’s COSME programme which aims to support the fusion of cutting-edge technologies and innovation with the European fashion and design industries.

DeFINE aims to develop a network of incubators & accelerators, start-ups & SMEs, and financiers to build a European Fashion-Tech community where cross-sectoral knowledge is shared, ideas transformed into business opportunities and transnational collaboration nurtured.

Throughout the three years of the project (2018-2021), DeFINE will deliver a Europe-wide programme of inter-related networking events, training, mentoring support and knowledge-sharing, for the benefit of the whole community.

The cross-sectoral networks and ecosystems tackled the challenges that the European fashion industry faces and supported:

  • start-ups/SMEs to develop innovative and advanced commercial services and products that respond to consumer requirements for aesthetics, physical needs and functionality
  • incubators and accelerators to deal with investor readiness of Fashion-Tech start-ups and SMEs scaling up
  • financiers to understand the value of investing in Fashion-Tech businesses, and in a complementary way Fashion-Tech enterprises understanding how presenting themselves to access investment
  • all stakeholders to organize and manage cross-sectoral knowledge related to fashion, design, engineering, business and investment domains
