Elena Caratti

I have an Architecture degree (old system) from Politecnico di Milano. Following a research thesis in the publishing field, I enrolled in the second level Master in E-Design of POLIdesign, which dealt with issues related to multichannel communication. I later obtained a Ph.D. in Design at the Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on the methodologies for basic design education.

At the research level, I dealt with issues concerning education in the field of communication design, gender cultures (with particular attention to the phenomenon of female stereotypes), and the design of translation from a theoretical and applied point of view in the area of editorial design.

Over the years I have gained teaching experience in Italy and abroad, I am currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Design and I teach both Ba and Master's level at the degree course in Communication Design. Author of the book "Rimediazioni gender-sensitive" (Franco Angeli, 2015), I edited with Giovanni Baule the book "Design is translation" (Franco Angeli, 2016), which received an honorable mention at the XXV edition of the ADI Compasso d'Oro award.
