I cinque nodi del benessere
Trame e risonanze dal Carcere San Vittore
17 March 2025, building B9A, first floor, Campus Durando, Via Durando 10, Milan

On 17 March at 5 p.m. Mariana Ciancia, Giovanni Maria Conti, Chiara Ligi, Martina Motta and Francesca Piredda invite you to a short introduction to the exhibition ‘I cinque nodi del benessere. Trame e risonanze dal Carcere San Vittore’.
As part of the METHEXIS project, financed by the Polisocial Award 2023, within the framework of the Off Campus San Vittore activities, key aspects of well-being were investigated with inmates in the Young Adults Ward of San Vittore Prison. The exhibition ‘I cinque nodi del benessere’ (The five nodes of well-being) represents the results of a questionnaire exploring time, sleep, relationships, help and activities. Aspects in which even those who study and face very different life experiences can be reflected.
From 17 to 27 March, the exhibition invites to a multi-sensory experience of weaving and sound design, transforming the campus into a space for reflection and dialogue on prison and society.
To interpret the data, KnitDesign.Polimi (Department of Design) created 5 looms woven with knotted cotton threads provided by the sponsor Filmar.
Why the knot? In each context the knot is a bond and was chosen as a symbolic, structural and compositional element to construct an allegory of the networks of relationships that are woven inside the prison and become the support networks of an elusive and precarious well-being.
Each frame is accompanied by a unique sound environment intended to evoke sensations and reflections. Thanks to headphone listening, accessible through the QR code next to each frame, the experience becomes even more intimate and immersive.
