Ti-M E TAILOR MADE ECOSYSTEMS
Design Research and Consultancy for Future Living Interiors
The Ti-M E research group develops design-based research and consultancy activities with a focus on collective spaces that are "tailor-made" to contribute to the creation of complex and integrated ecosystems.
The concept of "tailor-made" is explored in two polarities: on the one hand, the definition of articulated spatial products and, on the other hand, the development of systems adaptable to the diverse needs of coexisting communities.
Through a multidisciplinary approach, the group explores new models of living, permanent and temporary, and modes of travel, consumption, relationship and care, both physical and virtual. These changes are analyzed to interpret new behaviors and define emerging trends, developing spatial products in line with advanced technologies and design sustainability goals.
The group's integrated approach allows it to address the specificities of the intervention contexts, taking into account the different scales and complexities that characterize the design and implementation of spatial ecosystems. The result is the definition of articulated spaces-products capable of responding to emotional and relational needs. The group's skills are hybridized to explore living spaces with a focus on hospitality, relationship and care, and well-being, in environments characterized by:
- spaces for sale
- temporary reception
- moving environments
- confined and extreme spaces
The group faces the contemporary challenges of living spaces, proposing solutions projected to solve present and future needs, in line with the main research directions of the Department of Design of Politecnico di Milano and the demands of an advanced market.
The team of the research group, composed of researchers from the Department pertaining to the areas of architecture, interior design and product design, relates and collaborates with a network of consultants and collaborators from the professional field. The research activity, on a national and international scale, is enriched by the dimension of consulting and the relationship with the operational, corporate and project context, including through forms of educational experimentation (courses, workshops and postgraduate masters).
