Since 1956, ADI has been bringing together designers, business companies, researchers, educators, critics and journalists around design-related themes: design, consumption, recycling, and education. It plays a leading role in the development of industrial design as a cultural and economic phenomenon. Since 1958, it has been managing the Compasso d'Oro Award, Europe's oldest recognition in the field of design.
The ADI Foundation Collezione Compasso d'Oro gathers the awarded items from different editions of the award along with their documentation, oversees their preservation, promotes historical research, and organizes in-depth exhibitions.
