International Conference Design Futures

2-3 December 2022, online event

On December 2 and 3, 2022, will take place in the Metaverse the third edition of the International Conference on Design Futures, the international conference on future design developments, coordinated by Politecnico di Milano, in collaboration with Tsinghua University and Carnegie Mellon University.

In the face of drastic changes in today's international society, thinking and looking to the future is becoming a new starting point and support for design innovation. The universities involved will therefore be called upon to examine the development ideas of post-pandemic globalisation from the perspective of design innovation, through four different themes: Futures Scapes | Futures Design-Edu | Futures Literacy | Futures Well-being.

The conference will therefore focus on the methods and frontier thinking of future design from the perspectives of future philosophy, future design education, future creation and future society, respectively, in the cross-disciplinary fields of philosophy, aesthetics, science and sociology, in order to explore new directions and opportunities for development in design, pedagogy, science, philosophy and aesthetics and drive global change through future thinking.

The interdisciplinary discussions will therefore aim to build an international platform for the exchange of innovations, where internationally renowned experts and scholars in related fields are invited to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing humanity in the 21st century, to reflect on how to anticipate and address complex societal problems, and to look at the future from the perspective of design innovation, with the hope of promoting the symbiosis and coordinated development of science and technology, economics and society, and to integrate future thinking into innovative practice to address and guide the uncertain future.

The conference, in the form of remote dialogue, will take place in the online metaverse platform for reserved 500 spots, in the meanwhile, it will be live-streamed on Facebook on the official page of GDFN-Global design futures network for an unlimited number of participants.
