Loro Piana Knit Design Award 2022

On June 21, 2022, the finalist projects were announced at the sixth edition of the international Loro Piana Knit Design Award competition.

The event was hosted at Loro Piana's Milan headquarters and was attended by an international panel of judges consisting of a number of in-house representatives, including CEO Damien Bertrand, as well as personalities such as Sara Sozzani Maino, head of Special Projects at Vogue Italia, Beka Gvishiani, founder of Stylenotcom, Chet Lo, knitwear designer, and Letizia Schätzinger, TikToker and content creator.

Students from six different fashion and design schools - North Carolina State University, Institut Français de la Mode, Heriot Watt University of Edinburgh, Politecnico di Milano, Shenkar College of Tel Aviv and Bunka Fashion College of Tokyo - put their skills and ideas to the test, reinterpreting the "Traveller Jacket", the iconic star of the Loro Piana collection. The theme of this sixth edition was, in fact, "Rediscovery," which allowed students to create an innovative and personal version of the jacket, delving into themes such as tradition, the future, haute couture and experimentation.

Among the participants were also two students from the KnitDesign Lab of the Design Department of the Politecnico di Milano, Beatrice Zagatto e Enola Cappellari, led by Professors Giovanni Maria Conti and Martina Motta.

The winners of the Loro Piana Knit Design Award 2022 were students Po-Chieh Chiu and Shanon Poupard from the Institut Français de la Mode, Paris. Their project will be exhibited during Pitti Filati, June 29 to July 1, in Florence.
